Rookie of the Year

The Delta Epsilon Psi Rookie of the Year Award is presented to promising individuals who are likely to emerge as the leaders of tomorrow. Viraj Patel, a founder of Alpha Delta Colony and its first president, was awarded the 2011-2012 Rookie of the Year in recognition for his outstanding efforts in establishing Delta Epsilon Psi at the College of New Jersey as well as planning Project Come Together – an unprecedented task as it had never been thrown outside of the Founding Chapter of Delta Epsilon Psi. Viraj is currently enrolled in the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Blue Chip Leadership Award

The Delta Epsilon Psi Blue Chip Scholarship is given to those who excel academically, are involved in the community, and exemplify excellent leadership and personal balance. For the 2011-2012 school year, Ravi Shah was awarded the $1000 Blue Chip Scholarship, most notably for his unparalleled academic standings. Ravi is currently a medical student at Columbia University Medical Center

Brother of the Year

Exemplifying brotherhood, discipline, and commitment Delta Epsilon Psi’s 2012-2013 Brother of the Year award was given to Ravi Shah. As the second acting president of Alpha Delta Colony, Ravi took the organization to new heights. He brought together brothers from all over the region with the popular Delta Fest. With Ravi’s leadership and drive, Delta Clinic was born. On Be the Change day, he sought to aid the often troubled Trenton community, organizing a block-wide cleanup. Perhaps most impressively, Ravi managed to maintain an impressive academic profile while planning and organizing all these events.

Colony of the Year

Alpha Delta Colony earned the highest recognition upon receiving Delta Epsilon Psi’s 2011-2012 Colony of the Year Award. In one year since its inception, the brothers at Alpha Delta strived to make Delta Epsilon Psi a more prominent in the College of New Jersey as well as in the Ewing community. The active members managed to organize and throw the first ever Project Come Together outside of Texas. This Delta Epsilon Psi signature event teaches inner city youth the relevance of education in a fun manner. By instilling these beliefs early on, Delta Epsilon Psi hopes to reduce the high school dropout rates in these low income areas. Finally, the brothers of Alpha Delta colony donated $1500 to JDRF, Delta Epsilon Psi’s national philantrophy. Earning recognition as Colony of the Year immediately after becoming established reflects the level of determination for success the brothers of Alpha Delta Colony maintain.

Then once again, Alpha Delta Colony was announced as the recipient of the Colony of the Year Award in the 2012-2013 year. Continually striving to be better, the brothers of Alpha Delta adopted a philosophy for never settling for just redoing what was accomplished the year before. In the 2012-2013 year, Alpha Delta threw a bigger Project Come Together with 200+ children attending. A total of $2000 was donated to JDRF. The brothers organized a one day clean-up in Trenton dubbed “Be the Change.” Alpha Delta also organized regional brotherhood event and regional formal with over 400 brothers. Lastly, Alpha Delta earned recognition by throwing Delta Clinic, a clinic that provided free medical checkups and supplies for the victims of Hurricane Sandy and those that were either underinsured or uninsured in the Trenton area.
And, for a third time in a row, the Alpha Delta Colony was awarded the Colony of the Year award for the 2013-2014 year. As our recognition on campus began to grow, so did our colony. Our events were bigger and better than ever, hosting our 3rd annual Project Come Together, second Delta Clinic, and for the first time, Indian Republic Day.
